Babysitter in West Palm? [28 Dec 2006|03:02pm]

hisrisingstar
Ok, Does anyone know a responsible babysitter in West Palm? Preferably over 17. I need them to be like an on call type thing (with 24 hours notice obviously). But sometimes I need to run errads or want to go out with a friend. For example, I want to go out with a friend for her birthday, and I would just need someone to come sit with them. They would both be asleep, and they both sleep through the night. So it would just be someone lounging on the couch for a few hours. My son is 2 and my daughter is 7 months. The key traits we need is TRUSTWORTHY, we live in a nice area and have heard too many stories of people stealing, and RESPONSIBLE. If you know anyone that would be interested, maybe a college student or something, please let me know. We live in Palm Beach Gardens, off Northlake, towards the Acreage, west of the B-Line by Ibis.

Okay.  So I was looking at this the other day: http://www.skippyslist.com/skippylist.html

And with my rather...deranged sense of humor, I started to come up with my own version. Here's what I have so far, please note that I only have done this for the sake of humor, and no, I have not done everything on this list!  The majority of the list is purely my own imagaination, thank you very much.  And becuase LJ is being mean, you have to click on 'post comment' to see the whole list.

Hey everyone... its that time of the year again, and I know a bunch of you want to help out with our campaign. Please send me an email at neverbnunloved@aim.com, or to my PBA email to let me know what you want to do to help out.

We need people to take flyers to class, talk to students, be at tables, etc, etc. And as always your own creative thinking is welcome.

Our campaign has a lot to do with empowering students to take up a part of their university to improve it... so we want to let people help us creatively in their own way. Just talk to us and we will see how we can help you spread the word.

What did you need this semester, and forgot to bring from home? [11 Dec 2005|10:36am]

jaztec
Doing a little friendly competition here, sorry no prizes. Just reply with a post saying something, or a few things you would have liked to have remembered to bring from home, or buy before moving in this year, that you found out you needed later on, and didnt have it when you needed it.

All your comments will be added to this PBAU MemoryCollapse ) which will be useful to new students coming in.

Safety and Security Alerts [02 Dec 2005|08:23pm]

Message from the Director: Dondi R. Byrd

Given our beautiful weather here in sunny South Florida, this is the time that our “snowbirds” arrive from the colder parts of our country. In past years, we have seen these individuals migrate straight to our area, and unfortunately, on our campus.

Along with their arrival, it seems that our thefts, opportunity crimes (email scams, fax scams, et al) and stalking increase. Many of these snowbirds are wanders, seeking warmer weather, and an easy target to turn in to a quick payoff. Many of our bicycles are stolen, vehicles broken into, and young ladies are targeted. Staff and faculty are not immune to the predators that lurk in our environment. Please take the following precautions:

-Secure your bikes and scooters with a U-Bolt locking mechanism. No chains or cables! These are easily defeated with bolt cutters!
-Do not leave items of value in eyesight within your vehicle.
-Never leave your book bags or briefcases unattended, even for a second!
-Report any and all suspicious persons on or near campus
-Never invite someone you do not know into your dorm room or hall lobby.
-Never prop your doors open, even your sliding glass doors.
-Always carry your keys and student/faculty/staff ID with you.

This list certainly isn’t exhaustive. Many of our thefts are classified as victim assisted. This means that the victim did not exercise reasonable and prudent means to secure their valuables. These thefts are preventable. By following the above precautions, you greatly decrease the possibility of becoming an easy target, as well as another statistic of a victim-assisted theft. As always, my staff and I are ready to assist you, and if you have any questions or concerns, you can call us at 32500 or email me at dondi_byrd@pba.edu

Be safe, and be smart!

Rumors abound the deli is shutting down in the Common Ground tomorrow. Apparently the health officials inspected and said that the meat wasn't cold enough. Rock on.
